Established around December of 1891 in the United States by James Nasmith at the International YMCA Training School, basketball is played between two teams of five players each. Usually played indoors on a rectangular court each team tries to score by throwing a ball through the opposing team’s basket. Basketball is a prevalent sport both watched and played all over the world but is most popular in the U.S., Canada, Argentine, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, and Serbia.
